Approximately 100miles round trip arriving back at Tamworth around 1.00-1.30pm \nBrian Martin leading and Duncan Gleig tail ending. \nGroup Riding Rules\n\nPre-Ride Briefing:\n\n\n\n\nObjective: Ensure all riders understand the route\, stops\, and signals.\nContent: Discuss the route\, planned stops\, hand signals\, and any specific instructions\nEnsure fully fuelled prior to arriving at start point.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFormation:\n\n\n\n\nStaggered Formation: Riders should maintain a staggered formation to allow better visibility and safe distances. The lead rider stays on the left side of the lane\, the second rider on the right\, and so on.\nSingle File: In narrow or winding roads\, riders should switch to a single file for safety.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLead and Tail Riders:\n\n\n\n\nLead Rider: Andy will set the pace and ensures the group follows the planned route. He will be wearing an Orange & Yellow Florrie.\nTail Rider: Sharon will stay at the back to ensure no one is left behind. DESCRIPTION:Group Riding Rules \nPre-Ride Briefing: \n  \nObjective: Ensure all riders understand the route\, stops\, and signals. \nContent: Discuss the route\, planned stops\, hand signals\, and any specific instructions. \n  \nEnsure fully fuelled prior to arriving at start point. \n  \nMeeting and route plan info: \nMeet at WS14 0QP meet Wall McDonalds approx. 100 mile run in total 3 hours total 2 stops. \n8.15  –  Paul & Phil will arrive \n8.45  –  Briefing \n9.00 am  –  Prompt set off \n  \nDestination Stable View\, Hollies Farm A6096\, Spondon Road\, Ilkeston DE7 4PQ – 45 Miles Approx 1hr 15 mins \nThen onto Carsington Water – Carsington Water Visitor Centre\, Big Ln\, Upper Town\, Ashbourne DE6  1 ST – 25 Miles Approx 45 mins \nReturn to Wall McDonalds WS14 0QP – 40 Miles Approx 1 Hour via Ashbourne and over Blithfield Reservoir. \nPhil Crowley will be Tail Ender \n  \nFormation: \nStaggered Formation: Riders should maintain a staggered formation to allow better visibility and safe distances. The lead rider stays on the left side of the lane\, the second rider on the right\, and so on. \nSingle File: In narrow or winding roads\, riders should switch to a single file for safety. \n  \nLead and Tail Riders: \nLead Rider: Paul will set the pace and ensures the group follows the planned route – 07852 332 405 He will be wearing an Orange & Yellow Florrie and will be in comms with Tail Rider on Cardo. \nTail Rider: Phil Crowley will stay at the back to ensure no one is left behind and assists with any issues. 07792 119 484. He will be wearing an Orange & Yellow Florrie and will be in comms with Paul via Cardo also. \n  \nSecond Man Drop-Off System – If you don’t know then see last page for reference \n  \nProcedure: The lead rider signals the second rider to stop at junctions or turns to guide the following riders. The second rider waits until the tail rider arrives\, then rejoins the group ahead of the tail rider. \nThe second man does not leave his post until tail rider arrives. \nLead rider may choose to pull over safely if large gaps appear in the group and tail rider has not been seen for some time. \n  \nSpacing: \nSafe Distance: Maintain a safe distance between riders to allow for sudden stops and manoeuvres. \nAdjusting for Conditions: Increase spacing in poor weather or low visibility conditions. \n  \nCommunication: \nHand Signals: Use standardised hand signals for turns\, stops\, and hazards. \nIndicators: Use bike indicators to signal intentions clearly. \n  \nSpeed and Overtaking: \nConsistent Speed: Maintain a consistent speed that is comfortable for all riders. \nOvertaking: Overtaking is permitted but exercised with caution when in the group. No one must overtake lead rider. \n  \nBreaks and Stops: \nRegular Breaks: 2 breaks planned in as per schedule. \nRegrouping: We will ensure the group regroups at designated stops before continuing. \n  \nEmergency Procedures: \nBreakdowns: The tail rider assists with any breakdowns or issues. \nAccidents: Follow emergency protocols\, provide first aid if necessary\, and contact emergency services. \n  \nSafety and Courtesy \nProtective Gear: All riders should wear appropriate protective gear\, including helmets\, gloves\, jackets\, and boots. \nRespect Other Road Users: Be courteous to other road users and follow traffic laws. \nCamera Footage: No Camera footage to be shared on social media \n  \nThe second man drop-off system is a method used by motorbike groups to ensure everyone stays on the correct route without getting lost or separated. Here’s how it works: \nLead Rider: The lead rider knows the route and sets the pace for the group. \nTail Rider: The tail rider (often called “Tail End Charlie”) stays at the back to ensure no one is left behind. \n  \nHow It Works: \nAs the group approaches a junction\, turn\, or roundabout\, the lead rider signals the second rider in the group to stop at the turn. \nThe second rider then waits at the turn\, indicating the direction to the following riders. \nOnce the tail rider passes\, the second rider rejoins the group\, slotting in just ahead of the tail rider. \n  \nBenefits: \nPrevents Riders from Getting Lost: Ensures everyone knows the correct route. \nMaintains Group Integrity: Keeps the group together without constant stops. \nReduces Pressure: Less experienced riders can follow without feeling pressured to keep up.

SUMMARY:Weekend away 2025 - Paignton in Devon
DESCRIPTION:Weekend away 2025 to Paignton\, South Devon \nMay 16th @ 09:00 – May 19th @ 19:00 \nEach year our club organise a weekend away on our bikes\, this year it will take place between Friday 16th and Monday 19th May 2025 and we are heading to a holiday park in Paignton\, South Devon \nWe tend to meet somewhere local such as McDonalds Bassetts Pole probably at 9am on Friday morning and ride as a group\, some people make their own way to the destination if their personal circumstances don’t allow them to join us that early on a Friday. \nThe location of the weekend has been selected to offer a choice of price bands with accommodation ranging from a caravan / cabin to a B&B / Hotel in a nearby town. We recommend staying on the holiday park if possible as we will arrange all activities around that location. \nWe try to make the weekend as relaxed as possible\, we will have a ride to the site on Friday\, a social ride on Saturday and Sunday and a ride home on Monday. \nFeedback from 2024 asked for an opportunity to do more sight-seeing / less riding on Sat or Sun – so we will endeavour to incorporate that in 2025. \nAll rides will have a suitable lead rider and tail ender and will be run to our usual club standards using the second man drop technique so no-one gets lost even if they have no idea where they are! \nWe organise ALL rides to cater for ALL riders so we welcome new members\, old members\, friends\, pillions etc. You DO NOT need to be a member of our club to come along\, but you do need to share our goals of having a good\, safe ride whist respecting other members of the group and other road users. \nAnyone who has no experience or no GOOD experience of group rides is welcome and will be catered for\, I would encourage you to contact myself or another member of the training team / committee if you have any doubts\, concerns or questions. \nThe weekend does tend to be well supported by the experienced members of our club who will always be available to offer support or guidance if required. \nWe do not offer a recovery van or any sort of 4 wheeled support\, so you will need to arrange your own recovery service\, however if you do suffer a mechanical breakdown or accident\, we will remain with you whilst suitable recovery is arranged – we never leave anyone behind. \nIf you have friends or family who do not ride and want to come along in a car they are welcome\, but they will need to make their own travel arrangements. \nTo keep the weekend on a social level we will organise evening meals which you are all welcome to join or avoid\, your choice. Normally we will arrange a table in a local pub/restaurant on Friday and Sunday evening and on the Saturday we tend to get together in one of the cabins on site for fish and chips. \nPlans for this year’s event are progressing\, we expect around 30 people to join us\, I have set up a WhatsApp group to keep everyone who has expressed an interest updated. \nSo\, if you’d like to come along let me know so I can add you to the WhatsApp group\, as now is the best time to book your accommodation.
